My Book Reading : Malaysian Students' Cookbook by Izarra Azuddin

Writer's Description:
IZARRA AZUDDIN wrote this book as a Malaysian student studying in Melbourne. During her final year there, struggling with the discomforts of being away from home, she spent her days experimenting with her mum's recipes as well as newly discovered food that were popular in Melbourne. She compiled all the recipes that worked for her, to help other students who also yearn for easy ways to prepare simple home-cooked food.

Back Cover Description:

Midnight picnics at the Eiffel Towel, wine tastings paired with blowgun lessons; and romance in cafés, cemeteries, and at the Brandenburg Gate—these are just some of New York Times best-selling cartoonist Lucy Knisley’s experiences on her 2011 European book tour. An Age of License is both a graphic travelogue and a journal of her trip abroad. Fans of Knisley’s food-focused autobiography (French Milk, Relish) savor her mouth-watering drawings and descriptions of culinary delights, seasoned with cute cat cameos. But An Age of License is not all kittens and raclette crepes: Knisley’s account of her adventures is colored by anxieties about her life and career, depicted with fearlessness, relatability, and honesty, making An Age of License an Eat, Pray, Love for the Girls generation.

The moment that somehow (to me) makes up the title for this travelogue.

List of little things that we couldn't deny but to agree with it:

This thinking non-stop lingers us during bed time, don't you?

The feeling that one certain thing (be it alive or non-alive one) will always be yours.
The feeling of unready to let go. Lost, sorrow, dreadful, sadness.
We acknowledge this kind of feeling.

I wouldn't be that idle-mode on doing blogposts if I always love and wanted it.
Mood swings are hard to control. Pressure, mentality, demands.
#SeekForConsistency

Most introverts have lots of things to say.
Sometimes, it's the speaking barrier that makes us shut tight our mouth.

RESPECCCT PEOPLE de PRIVACY !!!
The times when you have ideas to do something.
But just because got people kacau you or circumference that makes you to not continue.
Everything turns out become an unlighted bulb.

Sayings to hold for the rest of your life:

Doodles (how I wish I can draw...)

Comments:
Acclaimed cartoonist Lucy Knisley (French Milk, Relish) got an opportunity that most only dream of: a travel-expenses-paid trip to Europe/Scandinavia, thanks to a book tour. An Age of License is Knisley’s comics travel memoir recounting her charming (and romantic!) adventures. It’s punctuated by whimsical visual devices (such as a “new experiences” funnel); peppered with the cute cats she meets along the way; and, of course, features her hallmark—drawings and descriptions of food that will make your mouth water. But it’s not all kittens and raclette crepes: Knisley’s experiences are colored by anxieties, introspective self-inquiries, and quotidian revelations—about traveling alone in unfamiliar countries, and about her life and career—that many young adults will relate to. An Age of License—which takes its name from a French saying—is an Eat, Pray, Love for the alternative comics fan. (Fantagraphics Books, 2014)

"Knisley continues to own the travelogue/graphic novel genre by bringing her characteristic humor and heart to this memoir...Belying her relatively simple but charming cartooning style, Knisley's pages are a cornucopia of information and detail...Her observations are frequently laugh-out-loud funny..."  -Publisher's Weekly
